I awoke this morning to warmth, sunshine, and the splendor of spring. The cup-shaped crocuses that arrive each spring had once again emerged after their long winter's nap. They were beautiful! Immediately I started neighing (singing) one of my favorite songs from the musical "Oklahoma." My thoughts and the song were as one. Oh, What a Beautiful Morning! If you are not familiar with the song, I have attached a YouTube clip from the film made in 1955.
Did you know that the most expensive spice, saffron, comes from the crocus flower? The above YouTube video shows how saffron is produced. To learn more about crocuses click on crocus facts. The following information came from http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/special/metro/urban-jungle/pages/100323.html ~"Crocuses open their flowers as temperatures rise and close them when the mercury falls, sometimes repeating the action several times during the day. The tendency is known as thermonasty, a trait they share with tulips. A closed flower will protect the precious pollen within from snow and rain, conserving it until warmer weather brings out more bees and other pollinators." To that I say: "Now that's a miracle!" . Wishing you a beautiful morning and a beautiful day! Your friend, Sven Last night Uncle Sam came to me in a dream. He gazed upward and demanded: "I WANT YOU TO VOTE!" I persistently told him I couldn't vote because I was a horse but I would forward his message to my human friends.
So if you live in one of the following states: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Wyoming, and the territory of America Samoa, DON'T FORGET TO VOTE! ======================================================== Robert Frost once said: "Thinking isn't agreeing or disagreeing.
